Prevention of MRSA

  1. Keep wounds covered
  2. Clean hands regularly with soap and water or alcohol-based hand gel.
  3. Maintain good hygiene and bath regularly
  4. Do not share items that may become contaminated 
  5. Wash clothing that has come in contact with wound drainage.
  6. No participation in contact sports while wounds are open
  7. Clean equipment and surfaces with which multiple individuals have bare skin contact with an over the counter disinfectant that specifies Staphylococcus aureus on the product label and can be used on that specific surface.
  8. Lysol ® spray household door knobs, faucets, toilet seats, mattress tops once a week.
  9. Wash hands with antibacterial soft soap and utilize a nail scrub brush to scrub under finger nails once a day.
